DESCRIPTION
MUSIC ON DISK - This art form emerged back in the day of the Amiga. this form of music arrived as a much needed improvement over MIDI. Largely supported from the 'demo scene' of the world, MODS allow a compact way to store music. MODS are not recorded, they are written. Sound samples, which can be of instruments, synthetic wave forms, or anything a microphone can pick up, are stored in the file. Also contained is the music score, just like an old fashioned player piano. However, this score contains information about what sample to play, at what pitch, as well as many subtle effects. 

I.E. - You download small files and play them on your computer. 

Why They're So Cool - The whole song isn't recorded, just the sound of the instruments to be played back. The song is recreated in real time when you listen to it. Mods have a certain style of music, they're just not the kind of thing you can buy anywhere. Oh, did I mention, they're free.
