Ceramics

In the fall of 2002 I spent some time crafting earth. Click image for high resolution.

Each piece is glazed with a clear glass. I made this glaze mixing powdered chemicals, and got a fine headache regardless of my face mask.
This is a combination of two wheel thrown pieces and coil method. There was a minimum height to reach. The top piece is closed at the bottom, and can be used as a vase. The bottom is open, and for example, a candle can be placed underneath.

The glaze cools forming fine cracks. I washed this piece with color to exaggerate them.

The colors under the glaze are from powdered chemicals that were pulled as the glaze melted. Cobolt, black iron oxide, et cetera...

This set is made from layered red and white clay, creating a sandy wood grain.
